Cemetery Grounds
In 1826 land was donated by Eilas Lillibridge and Nathan Bailey to create a cemetery for the borough of Dalton, at the time the cemetery was known as Brookside Cemetery or Shoemaker Cemetery.
Shoemaker Cemetery was incorporated on February 3, 1886 and the Articles of Incorporation were formed as the cemetery progressed, Rules & Regulation were also established.
In 1950 land was donated by George A. Bailey, which allowed for further expansion of the cemetery from the east side down to North Turnpike Road. (Section C & D). The cemetery was later renamed Dalton Shoemaker Cemetery in 1996. In 1997 a major project was launched clearing the new ground, making room for interments in which the cemetery is still actively selling lots. Electric and water service were added to the cemetery improvements, a new flag pole was erected.
