Burial & Monument Requirements

CEMETERY VAULTS ARE REQUIRED FOR ALL FULL BURIALS, cremations do not apply.
MONUMENT FOOTERS MUST BE APPROVED BY A MEMBER OF THE BOARD BEFORE CONCRETE IS POURED.

❯❯ BURIAL AND MONUMENT REQUIREMENTS FOR SECTIONS C & D

FOUNDATION DETAILS:
All monuments are to be set on a 36-inch deep, preformed solid (non-porous) concrete foundation or a poured concrete foundation. The outer edge of the foundation is to extend 2 inches wider than the base of the monument on all sides. Base size no larger than 35 inches. Additionally, the top of the foundation should be at ground level. Monument height must not exceed 40 inches.

LETTERING DIRECTION RULES:
** SECTION C lettering must face (North-East) up hill.
**SECTION D lettering must face (South-West) the highway. (Corner of N. Turnpike Rd. & Shoemaker Rd)

 

❯❯ STANDARD LOT
(4 ’x 10’), Section C & Section D

MONUMENT SIZE LIMITATIONS:
Max: 30″ wide, 40″ high max, 18″ thick,

MONUMENT DETAILS:
One monument per cemetery lot.

Monuments may be no larger than 30 inches wide (side to side) and 18 inches thick at base (front to back).

Follow foundation details and lettering direction rules for Section C and D.

❯❯ DOUBLE LOT
(8 ’x 10’), Section C & Section D

MONUMENT SIZE LIMITATIONS:
Max: 50″ wide, 40″ high max, 18″ thick,

MONUMENT DETAILS:
Standard lot (or) Double lot side by side.

Monuments may be no larger than 50 inches wide (side to side) and 18 inches thick at base (front to back).

Double lot monument must be centered between the two joining cemetery lots.

Follow foundation details and lettering direction rules for Section C and D.

 

❯❯ MILITARY FLAT MARKERS

Monuments must be on a 8 inch bed of B2 gravel with a 1 inch slab of cut flagstone laid under the monument 2 inches beyond the side of the monument. Gravel must be 3 inches beyond the diameter of the monument. Bronze military markers can be attached to the back of an existing monument already in place.

❯❯ CREMATIONS

Two cremations are permitted in one lot, but an additional fee of $300.00 is required for the second cremation to cover perpetual care.

There are currently NO lots for Sale in Sections A& B.

Cemetery Guidelines

Respectful Guidelines for Visitors

Welcome to our guide on cemetery guidelines for our historic grounds, where we provide essential information to ensure respect, reverence, and adherence to regulations governing this beloved resting places of our loved ones and the community.

  1. Artificial flower arrangements are not to be put directly in the ground during summer months. They must be in cemetery standing vases. Vases are available upon request. NO GLASS or NO CANS.
  2. Christmas and Easter Artificial arrangements are permitted, but are to be removed from the premises within 30 calendar days after the holiday.
  3. Only cemetery candles in the proper holders are permitted.
  4. Trash barrels have been placed throughout the cemetery for your convenience to discard any unwanted articles. Please feel free to use them to help keep our grounds clean.
  5. A water barrel is on the side of the white shed for your convenience.
  6. Veteran flags are available upon request. Please contact us.

The Dalton Shoemaker Cemetery Association may remove any headstone (or) headstones, post, trees, shrubs or other materials, or structures located or placed upon a lot within the Dalton Shoemaker Cemetery, that have been improperly installed, fallen into decay or disrepair or represent a danger to those who may enter cemetery grounds. Family members will be notified. If contact is unsuccessful the items will be placed in the grounds utility shed.
